In order to please our beloved Shaune, and satisfy his perpetual quest for victory, it was decided to have an Altis team event where he may have a chance to win... Pitch N’ Putt.
It was a grey and windy afternoon in Canberra, but we braved the elements and all lined up for our usual the rest of the world against the Aussies competition.
Unfortunately, Shaune was not aware that he teed up with a handicap of 1 shot per hole from the rest of the team (after all, he is the only one who actively practises this strange game of running after tiny balls in the grass!!).
There were some awesome styles on display, ranging from Cricket, Croquet, Baseball, Football and ultimately golf. A couple of near miss around the ears. A near "Hole in One" from Tony. Half the balls missing at the end, and fortunately everyone safe and sound following a 9 holes competition.
Winning team: The Australians
Winning individual: Richard (or Shaune without his handicap; so we may
call him a winner this time!!!)
So a clean sweep for the Aussies (they can have this one!!!).
The consolation: everyones score was very close from each other, on the low side.
It was a good afternoon, and a re-affirmation that for some, this sport (leisure) is not their cuppa!!!
